Dream Outdoor Kitchen

Went to visit an organic farm with a friend. They had a bunch of outdoor buildings that were created with the timber from the site. Since I also have a bunch of timber, I’m thinking it would be cool to use these free logs. The timber I have is invasive silver wattle (which is a hardwood).

Outdoor Kitchen

I love the raised ridge that allows light to come in.

Cool kitchen gear

The interior has restaurant style big-ass appliances, which for me would be overkill, but I can totally see doing a small rocket stove.

Simple Outdoor sink

I think this may have been a cooking vessel in another life. About 30″ in diameter. Super simple plumbing. A couple of ball valves and a bent copper ‘faucet’.

Upright post directly into the ground

I love that these are just stuck into the ground. No concrete! I hate concrete.

Many of the fence posts around here are also done this way. Hole is dug, post is plopped in, and rocks are tamped in and then backfilled with dirt. Drainage here is really really good.

Processing Shed

Here you can see a simple deck floor attached to the posts

Round to square timber detail

Simple joinery to go from round wood posts to conventional lumber roof framing.

Raise Eating space

Outdoor eating area on a raised lava rock plinth. I have a crap ton of rocks on site (including an old 155′ wall). I can totally see doing this! Notice that the table legs are made of logs and the table tops are roughly milled live edge timber. Rustic AND charming!

Oh, and while we are talking about dreaming…here’s the ‘big’ house:
