Oct – Water Tank

Pad of pea gravel with pile of 4F sand that is the foundation for the tank.

So the wait list for getting a water meter here can be as high as 10-25 years! I knew that I’d be off-grid with my water and power, so I just got down to it and installed a 15,000 gallon tank.

This is the first layer of the tank getting put in place. The pavers around the perimeter ensure that it is level and the sand gets spread around on the inside to protect the liner.

First layer getting bolted together.

Second layer bolted and all seams sealed. Tank height is 7.5 feet. Diameter is 18.5 feet. She’s a beast!

Overflow pipes installed, and painted a lovely green.

Liner going in. Pair of ‘rain sheds’ in the background that will feed the tank.

Double layer of permeable mesh covers attached. Rain can get in, but no critters, bugs, leaves, bird poop etc….

Downspout from the rain sheds’ roof enters here.
