Jazz Carpentry

The Shed. A place to hold tools. Built with a style of carpentry closer to Jazz than to Classical.

Improv, interesting chord progressions, wildly whimsical. Not a straight line in the house!

Now that the land is treeless, I’ve put up a removable shade cloth so that we can have a bit of shelter from the sun.

Inside is a Hot Mess. It’s been that junk drawer of all junk drawers.

Since the whole thing is built from shipping pallets, it has — shall we say — some ‘gappiness’ in the walls. First order of business is to fill the gaps so that wind and water can’t get in as easily. Not to mention the bugs. I think that may be a losing battle.

Attaching vertical boards to walls to fill the many many gaps. Ran out of material really quickly. Will need to source some more pallets, disassemble them, de-nail them and repurpose the lumber.

Started hanging some of the tools.

Creative ‘door knob’ made from a stick. Lockable hasp gives me some peace of mind that my tools won’t walk. It’s not a particularly theft-y area, and the shed has been unsecured for literally months without incident, but still….. It’s nice to have a lock. There are no windows, but the roof is clear corrugated plastic and lets in a lot of light.

Managed to get some more tools on the wall!
