Railings and Plumbing

The railing top rails are going on this week. Still to do…sanding, painting, picket installation.

Railings viewed from below.

Closeup of the plugs that are cut out of the same material and glued in over the stainless steel screws holding the top rail in place.

Kind of awkward transition from the bamboo railing to the conventional. Didn’t have the funds to make the railing be bamboo all the way around. But the conventional will still get the same bamboo pickets, so I’m hopeful that they will blend.

The block used to cut the plugs.

New ceiling in the bathroom. Necessary for lighting and fan.

The beginnings of the shower/toilet plumbing. I’m glad I’m not the one drilling a 3″ hole through 6 layers of 2x.

The pallet boardwalk continues. Eventually it will span the top path of the yard from end to end. I’m leveraging free local resources. Pallets and cardboard.

Pallet deck behind Glynda (the good shed).

I’m going back to analog! This is my kitchen phone.

The baby pineapple is now a teenager.

My first bumper crop of chayote squash. A *Very* prolific vine. It’s a lovely squash that can do both sweet and savory dishes. I made a mock apple crumble and didn’t take a sugar hit. It’s also great in a scramble.
