The house has reached the point where work cannot continue until the Bamboo kit arrives. There’s been an unfortunate delay. Somewhere in the realm of 6 months. The less said, the lower my blood pressure.

Rather than all that exacting work getting soaked durning the winter, the guys have put up a temporary roof to keep things dry.

The ridge beam to hold the joists.

The joists.

And one holy mother of a tarp. Who knew they made them that big? I’m also going to take some of the leftover pieces and staple them to the door openings. Probably build a temporary door or two.

The stairs are only partially finished in anticipation of getting a telehandler near the house to install the Very Heavy Bamboo Roof Trusses. I took it upon myself to take some shipping pallets and build a staircase to the staircase. I love making use of free materials!

Not pretty, but functional and sturdy. If there’s scrap laying around, I will find a way to use it. Very little has gone to the local landfill. Maybe a couple dozen garbage bags of trash.

This 3 pallet project is to cobble together some extra storage that can keep some things dry. The box under the green tarp is my toilet. The on-demand water heater and the kitchen sink will go in there too. I bought these before the madness that is Shipping Costs.

More scrap repurposing. Much of the 2×4 is offcuts from the temporary roof.

Attached clear corrugated roofing to both protect from the rain and allow some light in. Who knows what critters I’ll find in there over time?

Added a door on the precious side. The other 2 bays will get the tarp screwed on because what’s in there can get a little wet.

The beginnings of ‘Jenny’s Hardware Store’. Rolling drawers that hold all my small parts storage bins. The faces of the doors are leftover flooring. And I’m quite fond of all the different handles.

The drawers are deep enough that you can open the lid of the storage bins. Or if you need the whole tray, the entire thing can come out easily. You can just make out on the left the rest of the bins that need two more of these cabinets. These are deeper than the first ones. I don’t think I’ll ever run out of projects.

The vigorous abundant weeds. This is the inside sweep of the driveway.

Much improved! Now I just need to get some plants in there to out-compete the weeds!

My neighbor gifted me some saffron bulbs (actually corms), and this is the first to bloom!
