August Update

The guys generate a lot of scrap and I’m using it to build planter boxes and mini decks and stairs. This triangular area has a lot of old lava flow that can’t be moved without a jack hammer. So I just build around it. I’ve started using some pallet wood for some of the decking.

No scrap too small.

A pleasing arrangement – where the rocks will allow.

Placing the plants.

Plants in the ground. Now I just need to deter the feral chickens.

Some of my succulent planters. The driftwood one I built.

More planters and odd pieces of scrap.

I couldn’t resist buying this pot!

I too generate scrap that is usable kindling. Knocked together these crates out of pallets and some old leftover shelving from 3 houses ago. Reuse!

A good driftwood haul.

This section of the farm is behind the barn and has it’s own challenges. It seems to want to evolve into multi layer platforms. Still a work in progress.

My neighbor gifted me a dozen saffron bulbs. They are now snuggled into these beautiful pots. They should be blooming by October.

Next generation of succulent starts.

The deck of the Lanai has started to go down this week. With meticulous spacing and stainless steel screws.

This is the front of the Lanai with the next set of boards staged to get applied.

The little tree in the top center is an avocado volunteer. It’s already taller than I am. I’ll likely be able to pick fruit from it from the lanai once it gets taller.

View of the stair landing and the tiny house out the other kitchen window.

Overall, a lot of progress has been made this month. Both by the guys and me.
