The work continues on the new shed….nearly finished. Well….’done’ perhaps would be the more appropriate word. The ‘front’ door is installed and trimmed. Paper at the threshold is to protect the beautiful tigerwood deck.
Around the corner is the installed french door.
Here is the view from the terrace below with the trim and railing installed.
This is the back of the shed (facing the neighbor) where the outdoor shower is being framed.
Privacy screen installed.
Better view of the beautifully painted privacy screen. Made from corrugated roofing panels.
The entrance to the outdoor shower. It will be a little propane on-demand hot water heater.
On the inside, I have rockwool insulation installed in the walls, with the floor and ceiling insulated with foamboard. It’s super quiet and cozy. I’m at 3500 feet elevation and it can get quite chilly up here.
The view out the front door looks at the neighbors miniature donkey pasture and the forest beyond.
Interior walls are paneled in simple unfinished plywood. It has a Scandinavian feel. Smells nice too!
Windows are also trimmed in pine. A humble (and inexpensive) material.
Though the pine is cheap, the execution of the trim work is outstanding!
One of the last things to do is put in the acacia flooring. It’s acclimating to its new climate and will be installed next week. Acacia is a local ‘weed’ tree and the poles that make up the other 2 sheds are made from Acacia trees from the property.
The final piece is to finish the decking in front of the french doors. I didn’t order quite enough and I’m waiting for the last 6 pieces.
There’s still not quite enough privacy between me and the neighbor. I’ve started planting a wall of bamboo between our properties. It’s a clumping variety called ‘weavers bamboo’ that only gets about 20′ tall with 2″ poles. Those will be very useful around the garden.
